Acupuncture supports inmunity and vaccine response

Have you noticed how respiratory viruses seem to hit harder lately?
I certainly have. Earlier this year, I came down with Influenza B : fever, runny nose, I got evrything and it took longer than usual to bounce back. It made me realize that many of us are noticing the same trend: our bodies seem more vulnerable, and recoveries take more time.

There are several reasons for this. Changes in viral circulation after pandemic lockdowns, reduced natural exposure (and therefore less “immune training”, chronic stress, and lack of rest all play a part. Our immune systems are resilient, but they need the right support. Proper nutrition , sleep and sometimes targeted therapies like acupuncture that help regulate immune function and speed recovery. As we age, our immune system naturally becomes less responsive and this includes a weaker response to vaccines. Acupuncture may help fight that decline by improving how the body regulates immune activity.

Research shows that acupuncture can increase the number and activity of key immune cells such as natural killer (NK) cells and T-cells, which are responsible for recognizing and fighting infections. It also helps balance inflammation and improve circulation of immune-regulating chemicals in the body.

Some studies have found that people receiving acupuncture around the time of vaccination show stronger antibody responses. What does that mean? their bodies produce more of the protective proteins vaccines are designed to trigger. This suggests acupuncture may help vaccines “take” better in older adults or in people whose immune systems are sluggish.

Let me be very clear here, acupuncture doesn’t and shouln’t replace vaccines ! it helps your body respond to them more effectively by tuning up the immune system’s communication and reducing stress that can interfere with immunity.
